A+ Plus Creperie is now open downtown, replacing the former Katrina’s Ice Cream on 6th Street. This shop will satisfy your sweet tooth with crepes, waffles, mini pancakes, and so much more. Thanks to owner, Jacklyn Lopez, for sharing more with us about her business.

What's the story behind A+ Plus Creperie— what were you doing before you opened, and what made you take the leap?

Jacklyn Lopez is the owner and founder of A+ Plus Creperie, a locally owned dessert business based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Known for her compassion, resilience, faith, and dedication to her community, Jacklyn has built her business on a foundation of family, perseverance, and service to others.

In 2019, Jacklyn experienced an unimaginable tragedy when her daughter, Alexis Llanas, lost her life due to a drunk-driving accident. During this heartbreaking time, Jacklyn held onto the words Alexis often shared with her: "The sky is the limit." Those words became a source of strength, encouragement, and purpose as she worked to rebuild her life while honoring her daughter's memory. A devoted Christian, Jacklyn believes that her strength and success come from God.

Inspired by Alexis and driven by her faith, Jacklyn opened A+ Plus Creperie in late 2021 and early 2022. The name A+ was created in honor of her daughter, with the "A" representing Alexis and serving as a reminder that her spirit continues to live on through the business. What began as a dream has grown into a successful local business that reflects love, determination, and hope.

What is your specialty?

A+ Plus Creperie serves fresh crepes, waffles, mini pancakes, specialty desserts, shakes, fruit creations, and other unique treats at community events, festivals, private gatherings, and local markets. More than a dessert business, A+ Plus Creperie is a symbol of overcoming adversity and turning pain into purpose.

What's something about how you run your business that most customers wouldn't notice, but you're really proud of?

Jacklyn is passionate about giving back to her community. She regularly participates in charitable events and outreach programs that support homeless individuals, orphaned children, foster youth, and families in need. She believes that true success is measured not by what you receive, but by what you give to others.
