We look forward to introducing our ABQ Fermentation & Fungi Festival Community Series; small intimate gatherings where folks can learn, taste, and talk about everything fermentation and fungi related. Look for these taking place May-September, 2026.

  • Prior to the Albuquerque Fermentation & Fungi Festival in Downtown Albuquerque, Edible New Mexico hosted a Fermentation Festival for four consecutive years at the Gutiérrez-Hubbell House. After the pandemic, Edible New Mexico decided not to continue the festival.

In 2022, Downtown Growers’ Market vendor and former Fermentation Fest vendor, Stargazer Kombucha came to the Downtown Arts & Cultural District to inquire about a revitalization of the festival, with Edible NM’s blessing.

With a significant rise in fungi farmers around the state after the pandemic, the decision was made to at fungi as another main component of the festival.

The Albuquerque Fermentation & Fungi Festival was launched in October 2023 and took place at FUSION as part of their Rising High Arts Fest.

2024 the Festival returned to FUSION for a second year of festivities and education.

2025 the festival took a year off.

2026: We look forward to celebrating with you this year!

  • The Downtown Albuquerque Arts & Cultural District is both a place and a program in action:

It is a designated area of 30 blocks in Downtown Albuquerque, and as an initiative of DowntownABQ Mainstreet, the District supports the creative economy of Downtown Albuquerque.

The Downtown Albuquerque Arts & Cultural District is State designated since 2016. See the mapped district on our About Us page.
