The DowntownABQ MainStreet Initiative is a community redevelopment organization, State designated since 2008. Our mission is to promote and support downtown’s economic, social, and creative vitality through community-driven projects and programs. A revitalized and vibrant downtown is a symbol of community economic health, local quality of life, pride, and community identity.

  • Call for artists: abq artwalk outdoor performace series

    ABQ Artwalk is excited to announce a new outdoor performance series debuting Summer 2026! The series will feature a showcase of live music, spoken word, dance, and other performing arts on outdoor stages throughout Downtown ABQ, and we’re looking for talented local performers to help bring it to life.

  • 8th Street & Robinson Park feasibility study

    A collaboration between Downtown ABQ MainStreet Arts & Cultural District, New Mexico MainStreet, and the City of Albuquerque, the 8th St. + Robinson Park Feasibility Study explores how to make 8th Street and Robinson Park a more convenient and efficient place to have community events while increasing pedestrian safety around the park.

  • Albuquerque fermentation & fungi fest

    The ABQ Fermentation and Fungi Fest is a unique gathering celebrating New Mexico’s food, farming, and artisan communities. The event features local vendors, interactive demonstrations, and the exciting Battle of the Breads Competition. Attendees enjoyed fermentation-inspired menus, a fermented cocktail bar, and educational booths, making it an unforgettable experience for all.

    Crossroads is a monthly newsletter that celebrates the downtown community by sharing stories and updates on the businesses and creatives that nurture the culture and uniqueness that is the Downtown Albuquerque neighborhood.   • Downtown Growers' Market

    Started in 1996, The Downtown Growers’ Market’s mission is to support and promote local agriculture, small business development, and community engagement in order to better the economics, health, wellbeing, and education of New Mexico residents and visitors.

  • The Albuquerque Artwalk

    Started in 2018, The Albuquerque Artwalk is an independent arts organization and community of artists working to elevate New Mexico’s emerging creative economy. Their platform organizes block-by-block placemaking events that support local artists and local brick and mortar establishments. Their purpose is to spark the vibrancy of the arts by organizing experiences at the neighborhood-level.

  • Downtown Arts & Cultural District

    The Downtown Albuquerque Arts & Cultural District (ACD) is both a place and a program in action: it is a designated area of 30 blocks in Downtown Albuquerque, and as an initiative of DowntownABQ Mainstreet, the District supports the creative economy of Downtown Albuquerque. This is accomplished this through promotional support, funding, and partnerships.
