Route 66: Downtown ABQ Sunday Cruise

The Sunday Cruise is a weekly tradition on Route 66 through Downtown Albuquerque. Every Sunday evening around sunset, Downtown is filled with Albuquerque’s finest low riders, classic cars, and everything in between. “Art on wheels” is how many of these vehicles are described. Locals line the streets with family and friends, setting up chairs to enjoy the showcase and catch up with each other.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy as well, with lots of great patio options to choose from all along Central Ave. Be respectful of these vehicles and their owners, and be sure to ask before photographing anyone. Also be aware that Central Ave. is a slow cruise once you get to the Downtown core. If you’re in a hurry to get through Downtown on a Sunday evening, we recommend taking an alternate route. Sunday is all about slowing down, enjoying the scene, and spending time together.
