Join us for the third annual ABQ Fermentation & Fungi Fest. An official event of the Rising High Arts Festival taking place at FUSION in downtown Albuquerque, NM.
This year, you can look forward to your favorite local fungi producers, fermented beverages and foods, a New Mexico vendor market, educational demos covering all things fermentation and fungi, a wine and cheese pairing, and, of course, our beloved Battle of the Breads Competition!
This festival is a foodie paradise, and we can’t wait to see you there!

Festival Schedule
In addition to an outdoor market filled with local New Mexico fungi & fermented goods, delicious food and drink prepared on-site, a wine and cheese pairing, and the Battle of the Breads Sourdough Competition, we also have a whole day of educational demos focusing on fermented and fungi topics!
$10 General Admission Ticket gets you all of the above, minus the demos.

Are you an amateur baker with sourdough skills? We want YOU for our third annual Battle of the Breads Sourdough Competition at this year’s ABQ Fermentation & Fungi Festival!
Amateurs will compete for first, second, and third place with prizes from professional bakers, festival goodies, and more.
We accept submissions for plain sourdough breads or specialty sourdough breads (including added ingredients like nuts, cheese, olives, etc.).

Prior to the Albuquerque Fermentation & Fungi Festival in Downtown Albuquerque, Edible New Mexico hosted a Fermentation Festival for four consecutive years at the Gutiérrez-Hubbell House. After the pandemic, Edible New Mexico decided not to continue the festival.
In 2022, Downtown Growers’ Market vendor and former Fermentation Fest vendor, Stargazer Kombucha, came to the Downtown Arts & Cultural District to inquire about a revitalization of the festival, with Edible NM’s blessing.
With a significant rise in fungi farmers around the state after the pandemic, the decision was made to include fungi as another main component of the festival.The Albuquerque Fermentation & Fungi Festival was launched in October 2023 and took place at FUSION as part of their Rising High Arts Fest.
2024 the Festival returned to FUSION for a second year of festivities and education.
2025 the festival took a year off.
2026: We look forward to celebrating with you this year!

The Downtown Albuquerque Arts & Cultural District is both a place and a program in action:
It is a designated area of 30 blocks in Downtown Albuquerque, and as an initiative of DowntownABQ Mainstreet, the District supports the creative economy of Downtown Albuquerque.

Elevating the Downtown Experience! October 8 - 18
This multidisciplinary festival is a collaboration of artists, organizations, and businesses that aim to elevate the Downtown Albuquerque experience for residents and visitors alike.
